Devlog #7: Production Sprint 2 progress


Hello fellow gamers

We're back with an update of our game, the end is nearing, so are the exams of other projects, but lots of stuff still needs to be done.

Art

- Decals on the props
- Update of one of the car models.
- We started on our search for cool sound effects.
- Collision meshes
- The HUD has been improved, together with a bunch of Car icons that will be visible in player start menu & the HUD.
- The Particles have been improved as well.
- We're currently also trying to redesign the whole table setup, to create a more interesting playfield, but this still needs some testing.

Development

Big chunck of text incoming:

- There is a more advanced car respawn that takes into account where to spawn in relative to the nearest players, while preventing cars from spawning on each other
- Implemented the car prefabs + adding the particle effects + car animation!
- The camera follows the group of cars smoothly.
- Added a normal attack which launches the car forward a bit.
- We have a game loop! The gmae stops either by time or by a player having x amount of kills. When the game stops, it shows which player has one and how much time it took, then it continues to the end screen.
- The end screen shows the scores (amount of kills, ramming amount, speed)
- The game won't start immediately, but has a countdown when loading the arena.
- The inventory also has been reworked.
- Fixes such as player join and car mod attachment are done as well.

Coming up

- Finishing up the Hud and menu's
- Adding the item icons to the spawners.
- Adding the VFX particles + sounds to the game
- Background props + more decals (?)
- Determine on the layout of the table.
- Being able to change the car colors in the game startup.
- One last car needs to be modeled as well.
